Jan 21, The Tall Trees Trail is a moderately strenuous hike that descends feet down to the alluvial floodplain of Redwood Creek. The grove has plenty of water, good soil, and protection from winter winds and as a result has many redwood trees that exceed feet ( meters) in height.

As the trail parallels Redwood Creek, you'll be hiking under big, mossy maples sprouting licorice ferns on their trunks and boughs. Several short spurs lead to the cobbled creek bank. Across the creek, somewhere in the redwood stands beyond, is the world's tallest measured tree, Hyperion, at feet.

The loop trail is very flat and easy, going out through a canyon filled with huge redwood trees.
